Default Mes Hero build?

Ya, well im sorta new to the whole idea of usin mesmers and alot of ppl in my guild r tellin me its a good idea to have a mes hero, so i was wondering if anyone had some good hero mes builds they'd be willing to share.

I made one but the energy management sucks and all gwen ends up doin is shootin purple bawlz at the target for like 2 minutes lol...

Oh, and you might as well remove the interrupts on these bars, or VoR. Just can't be bothered fixing them up properly.

I have Gwen run a Signet Mesmer build with seven signets and [mantra of inscriptions] Mantra of Inscriptions. There are multiple plus sides to this build as signets are affected moreso than spells by the Fast Cast attribute, you can equip the Artificer insignia on Gwen's armour and bring her up to 81 armour, and signets get past annoying enchantments like [spell breaker] Spell Breaker and [vow of silence] Vow of Silence. To top things off, Gwen hardly uses energy (only to recast Mantra of Inscriptions every 70 or so seconds) and you don't have to worry about Gwen shooting purple balls for two minutes straight.

I think this might be a TAD to complex for Fatass. And Norgu.
There is way to much hexing going on for the heroes to manage.


A bit more on-topic:
it might be helpful to share what you are running. But skills like [shatter hex], [shatter enchantment], [cry of frustration], [power drain] are very decent options.
I'd either make her into an AP spammer (if no-one else is running AP of course!) or a Discord-gal with inspiration/domination utility.

My Gwen currently uses this bar ...

[Visions of Regret][Empathy][Overload][Cry of Frustration][Drain Enchantment][Power Drain][Ether Feast][Resurrection Chant]

Definately equip a Hard Rez and no rez signet, as the rez spells benefit from Fast Casting.

The downside of a pure hex bar is the long recharge time of mesmer hexes, while targets may change faster than every 20 seconds. That's why I put Overload on my Gwen.

Here's an explanation rather than just a bar so that you understand what you're doing and why.


Lack of energy is probably because you've not put any points in inspiration. Att split should be along the lines of 12 dom OR illusion (choose one, I prefer dom), 10 insp, 8 FC. Take two emanagement/utility skills from the insp line - my preference here is [drain enchantment] (removes one enchant, gives back energy and health) and [power drain] (interrupts a spell, gives back energy). Take [empathy] for damage because it works on everything including casters. Take [cry of frustration] for general interrupt. Give her monk secondary and take [resurrection chant] for the fast casting hard res as Patron said. The elite is up to you - I've successfully run [Visions of Regret], [Power Block] and [Tease] on mine, Tease being my current favourite (edit: BBcode hasn't updated the skill description for Tease, it is now an energy-giving interrupt rather than the garbage listed here :P) - as are the remaining two skills.

Why use a mesmer primary instead of a necro primary? With soul reaping you can probably do away with the energy management inspiration skills which would be more worth it even having a -1 or -2 attribute levels on the mesmer skills.

If I want to go for a mesmer primary, I would use something like this:

Like I said, you dont need inspiration energy management skills if you have soul reaping.

Dont choose to use a primary mesmer hero simply because it is a mesmer. I choose my heroes to be effective. I have played a mesmer before, so mesmers are not a novelty to me.

So if a hero dies and you're in trouble, anything is better than a res?
